Mohd. Ghouse Moinuddin, Mahbubnagar, AP – Profile (Election Special)

Mohammad Ghouse Moinuddin is the Lok Satta Party candidate for the Mahbubnagar constituency in the Assembly by-elections of March 2012. Audio of an interview/interaction with Mr. Ghouse and the LSP campaign team here. .

Mr. Ghouse is a native of Mahbubnagar, and has been chosen by the party because of his sincere concern and work for social welfare, good local knowledge, reputation and support, dynamism in decision-making, and able communication skills. An honest and successful businessman in the field of education, he has focused on programs catering to the socially and economically backward sections. Currently based in Hyderabad for business reasons, he previously contributed to the Mahbubnagar edition of the Eenadu daily newspaper for two years, and gained in-depth knowledge of the local issues. Equally proficient in three languages – Urdu, Telugu, and English, he is able to articulate and connect with all sections of citizens.

His driving principle in politics is clear – ‘All that matters in politics is People’ and he believes that the job of a leader is to be a bridge between the people and the government. Vexed with the present-day politicians of most parties who are caught in a cynical pursuit of power and money, he had been considering joining active politics since 2009. He wanted to associate with a clean party and Lok Satta stood out for him as most promising. He had been following its work from a long time, since being impressed with articles written by Dr. JP in Eenadu many years ago. The socio-political analysis and proposals for reforms in these articles attracted him primarily because of how insightful and practical they were. He had noticed that Lok Satta works on raising important issues and also articulates well-considered solutions for them.

Ghouse’s chosen constituency of Mahabubnagar is one of the most backward districts in the state and ranks among the last two districts in terms of development. Lack of local employment opportunities leads to large-scale migration in search of work. A related issue is the terrible state of education – literacy rates are as low as 25% in some areas. Another prominent issue is the scarcity of drinking water, with locals having to depend on tankers. Agricultural yields, especially for cotton, have dropped alarmingly. The area suffers greatly due to water scarcity in general, and in spite of being represented by prominent state leaders, has seen little progress. The highest priority in Ghouse’s manifesto is for improving education and creating sources of employment in Mahabubnagar for citizens to avail of and thus be able to feed their families and provide them with good health and education. From his long-term work, he has a good grasp of education initiatives that will help. He and his team are working with locals and experts to further understand all pressing issues and to identify practical solutions for them.

Lok Satta’s campaign for Ghouse’s candidature is being led by a five member team of senior party leaders – Ravi Maruth, Bandaru Ram Mohan Rao, Raja Reddy, Vijayender Reddy, and Lakshman Balaji. Ghouse is known for his activism in the area and has a considerable support base, with twenty-five people as his core team. The party is also organizing a team of two hundred volunteers from Hyderabad, Medak, Nizamabad, Anantapur, and Kurnool for campaigning.

The campaigning phase will be intensive. For the 14 days of the effort, the volunteers will focus on approaching every household using the slogan ‘inti intiki Lok Satta’ (‘Lok Satta to every home’). Half the votes of Mahabubnagar constituency are from rural areas, the team is working on spreading the Lok Satta agenda among the villages. No other party has started campaigning and Lok Satta aims to be the early bird. There are a total of thirty-eight wards in the urban area and the party has prepared eight campaign teams for these wards. Ghouse will campaign for a day with each team, for well-spread out and widest public reach and with Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan for three days.

Voters are being urged to vote for Lok Satta with the following logic “If Congress wins, it will not go away from power (though people want it to); if TDP wins, it cannot come into power; if BJP/ TRS wins, there may not be much impact on the Telangana issue. The people of Mahbubnagar have the chance to usher in a new and historical change. Give Lok Satta a chance with your vote. Today, in the entire state, Lok Satta is the only party that is consistently fighting against corruption and liquor lobby. We are showing what we capable of in Kukatpally. With only one seat in the assembly, we have made the positive difference of ten. Please strengthen a party that stands for good politics. This is a historical opportunity for the people of Mahabubnagar and it is in your hands to utilize it without getting sold to money and liquor.” The team is focused on making sure this message percolates well into the people, and is confident of a good showing by the party and Mr. Ghouse.

Irrespective of result, Mr. Ghouse Moinuddin will serve as inspiration for several capable and service-oriented citizens to enter politics and join hands for positive change.

  1. Varma says:

This is what we need in politics. We need from non political background and take leadership. Clean politics are possible when good people enter. Welcome MR. Ghouse and best of luck.

  2. Satish says:

I hope everyone read the profile of Md. Ghouse all his profile talks about his who are the local people that are supporting him in campaigns and everything that educated people want to hear. Everyone read his profile once again and tell me what in his profile impresses someone to vote for LSP….

Also he worked in “eenadu” for 2 years and that itself says a lot about him and his support to LSP. It says business in education field after 2 years in “eenadu” what business? Schools Colleges?

No one talks about the “Programs” he created for people of MBNR all the profile says is he contributed “Programs” no one know what..

People should realize that education is not the savior of the world it is part of the world and LSP thinks that bringing in educated and youngsters will change the world “which is an imaginary world created by JP”

I slowly started understanding that LSP is know different from any traditional political parties. Traditional parties use unpolished words and LSP does in polished way

    • Sundeep says:

Satish, you have shared what, in your opinion, is wrong or missing or incomplete. Why this dealing exclusively in negatives? You have not mentioned anything about what you want to see from a party or candidate. Or as Subbarao asked below, about the better alternatives you might want people of Mahbubnagar to consider.

    • Venkat Rao Marella says:

Satish…the profile speaks with clarity. any one can tell how different the profiles of LSP candidates as compared with the profiles of other party leaders (goons, liquor barons, criminals, womanizers). Its sad that public is not applying the mind. we need good persons, need not be with political background..but with a sincere commitment to public service.

  3. Vijay Kumar Akasam says:

Best Wishes Mr. Mohd.Ghouse Moinuddin. Mahubnagar is one of the most backward districts of Andhra Pradesh, the literacy rate is quite low, but the awareness of people of Mahabubnagar is better compared to other wealthy parts of Andhra Pradesh (surprising, but true). The dependency on rain for crops, lack of educational opportunities for better employment are the major issues in the poverty ridden district. For LSP, the vote depends on gaining turst and confidence of the people on your road map for improved agriculture, better educational and employment opportunities apart from the global objectives of loksatta and the recent gains in assembly. Please concentrate on these in your campaign.
    Wish You all the Best.

    Vijay

  4. Naveen Krishna says:

    Good luck Sir

  5. Satish,

It will be more useful if you post supporting arguments instead of aspersions about ‘polish’. Education is the single biggest factor that will help lower income families climb to to the next stage of prosperity. The evidence is clear and self-evident in our state. Post liberalization, lakhs of families have benefited from employment which is possible only with sound education.

The entire point of Ghouse’s manifesto is that we will transform the town IF given a chance. How can you expect a middle class person to do anything substantial given the circumstances we have?

Give us a chance. We already proved it in Kukatpally. Despite limitations and existing setbacks, we made a positive difference, you can browse http://www.kukatpallynow.com that has proof of all the good work that Lok Satta did.

  6. Subbarao says:

    Satish,
You must have heard of the phrase, In a democracy, people get the government they deserve.
Indians have been getting precisely that for so long.

You can continue to vote for the current set of uneducated, criminal, corrupt, sleazy, immoral, selfish, heartless leaders of the prominent political parties and continue to wonder what ails India, or hope to witness a change by giving educated people like Md Ghouse a chance. LSP made it clear several times that it would take 20-30 years to transform AP, if leaders like what LSP fields are elected. They have not promised utopia once they are elected, it requires a great deal of change in the mindset of people to not vote for parties based upon size or money power which LSP has been trying with moderate success.

Education has become part of the world precisely because it has transformed the societies that have embraced it as a top priority.
If you feel Mr Md Ghouse is not the right candidate for MBNR, they you can perhaps enlighten us who and why you think is a more suitable candidate. Then we can weigh in the differences and vote for the more deserving candidate.

  7. Venkat Rao Marella says:

Its really very happy to see clean persons entering politcs…I am a citizen from Kukatpally and I can really see a very positive change in the constituency. I wish all the best for Mr. Ghouse in these elections.
We want to see more JP’s in politics.
    Venkat.

  8. Sumanth says:

//I hope everyone read the profile of Md. Ghouse all his profile talks about his who are the local people that are supporting him in campaigns and everything that educated people want to hear. Everyone read his profile once again and tell me what in his profile impresses someone to vote for LSP….// he is not applying for any software job to create IMPRESSIVE profiles. he has given the information of what he has done so far and where his efforts stand. His profile has TRUTH and SIMPLICITY working with a leading newspaper for two years itself shows that he has a good idea of local peoples problems. that is more than enough to vote for him . In brief..he is the HONEST among all the contestants who are contesting.

//Also he worked in “eenadu” for 2 years and that itself says a lot about him and his support to LSP. It says business in education field after 2 years in “eenadu” what business? Schools Colleges?// whats wrong if he has some schools colleges ..?? many people when interviewed in many professional companies themselves answer the question that my father is a businessman..i am a businessman etc. is it really necessary to be specific about the business i do unless required?? i dont think that it is mandatory unless and until it is a large business or any thing illegal

//No one talks about the “Programs” he created for people of MBNR all the profile says is he contributed “Programs” no one know what..//
what should i say after looking at this comment..?? isnt not pessisimestic..?? what programs can an ordinary individual working for a newspaper can do..?? dont u think that contributing and writing meaningful articles and publishing them in a newspaper and making people aware about the local happenings a programme..?? if u dont understand the word “program” then it does nt mean that the other guy has done nothing.

//People should realize that education is not the savior of the world it is part of the world and LSP thinks that bringing in educated and youngsters will change the world “which is an imaginary world created by JP”//

Ignorance is a bliss… if u dont believe what JP said.
then u should stop consulting a doctor when u are ill ..
dont consult an architect to build ur house
do that and i bet u will be in a new world. u need a qualified fellow in every aspect of life and why not in politics..??

//I slowly started understanding that LSP is know different from any traditional political parties. Traditional parties use unpolished words and LSP does in polished way
// u cant see the sun unless the clouds get cleared. u cant understand LSP as long as u look from a pessisimistic point of view.. in brief…no party will loose or gain anything with these two seats …why cant u give a chance to this honest gentleman..?? u may get a chance to prove or disprove what u said against LSP..?? are u afraid of the fact that LSP may gain more public support or what..??

  9. IRFAN says:

Best of Luck Mr.Mohammed Ghouse Moinuddin, an educationist in the politics is a rare combine vote him for the betterment of the society.

  10. Suresh K says:

Best of Luck to you, Mr.Mohammed Ghouse Moinuddin. I have commited to campaigning for you through telephone calls through the groups created in google.

A message to all the other folks out there – please be aware of people who are here to incite. Do not waste your energy towards such negativism.

Leaders are a reflection of the society they come from. Be positive, stay strong and keep the wishful thinking alive. What are we without HOPE!!

  11. Raghuveer says:

Congratulations to Ghouse garu for fighting an ethical battle and for doing it the right way. Lok Satta is the only party which did not distribute money or liquor and went on the right path and we are the only ones who talked about real problems like water that is affecting the constituency. It is not easy to face such overwhelming odds and still come forward to content the election and for this, I want to congratulate Ghouse garu.

  12. Ravinder kumar says:

Mr Ghouse is a upright, honest person with clear intentions. being good does not help always, pursue what you do best ie. be an educationist not politician, you lack the tools of trade, you are not taught to be fake, cheat, stab, talk wrong, knowingly you wasted your time, money energy, you should have given to charity.
